Most 2026 plans will auto-renew! You will be notified by your carrier if there are any price changes or if the plan is discontinued.
In the first few weeks of October, you'll receive an important renewal notice about your health coverage from your exchange. This notice will help you understand your options for 2027, so be sure to review it carefully! Many plans will renew automatically, but because the marketplace is changing this year, we recommend updating your application for 2027 to help avoid surprises.
You'll still have the opportunity to cancel your current plan and switch to a new one during Open Enrollment. You may be able to save money or find coverage that better fits your needs for 2027!
- If you purchased your 2026 plan through Stride in California or a Healthcare.gov state, you'll automatically be enrolled in the same plan or a similar one if your exact plan is no longer offered, even if you don't take action to renew or change plans. You'll remain enrolled in your plan as long as you continue making your monthly premium payments.
- If you purchased your plan through a specific state exchange or off-exchange, you'll need to contact your exchange or insurance carrier about renewal.
- If you plan to renew automatically, we strongly recommend reporting any household changes, such as changes to your income, address, or family size. This helps ensure that the exchange has your most up-to-date information for 2027.
Even if your plan renews automatically, we recommend logging back into your Stride account to shop and explore the new options for 2027! Your current carrier may offer the same plan in 2027, but we strongly encourage you to complete a new application, even if you want to keep your current plan. This helps make sure your information is up to date and your coverage is in place for 2027.
Note:
- If your plan is being discontinued or your rates are changing, your carrier should notify you about these changes.
- If you qualify for financial help: As premiums increase, your financial help in the form of tax credits may also increase. This means that higher health plan premiums may be offset by an increase in the amount of financial help you receive.
