FAQ: What Do My Enrollment Statuses Mean?
Understanding the status of your health insurance enrollment can help you track your progress and know what steps (if any) are still required. Here’s what each status means, based on your state:
🌿 If You Live in California, Pennsylvania, or Maryland
Application started
- You’ve started applying but haven’t submitted it yet.
Processing
- Your application has been submitted and is being reviewed by the Stride team.
- ✅ Be patient and the Stride team will move as quickly as possible!
- 🗓️ This will take 1-2 days. Allow this amount of time before contacting our team to check the status!
Action required
- You’ve submitted your enrollment, but there are still steps to complete.
- 📳 Stride may attempt to contact you via phone, email, or text to make you aware of required actions. Be on the lookout!
- 🚫 Not taking the required action may result in your application being canceled or a loss of financial assistance.
- ⛔ In some cases, your application may never be submitted at all if the required action is blocking Stride from moving forward.
Processed
- Your enrollment has been sent to your state's marketplace.
- ✅ Be on the lookout for payment instructions. Depending on your state, you may be required to make a payment with your carrier.
- 💳 If a payment is made on your behalf by Stride or you make your own payment, pay close attention to whether it is withdrawn from your account. Once the payment is withdrawn, the carrier will send out your welcome packet and ID card. This process typically takes 10-14 business days from the date of withdrawal!
Note: You won't see "Enrolled" or "Terminated" statuses here since those are handled directly by your state's system. For more information on your enrollment or termination, please go to your state based exchange.
Cancelled
- You canceled your enrollment or Stride canceled your enrollment due to missing actions or outstanding requests.
- ✅ Note that this status “cancelled” status is strictly related to your Stride plan and enrollment application. If you are enrolled elsewhere or have made a change outside of your Stride application, it will not be reflected here.
- 🚫 If you miss your payments, an insurance carrier will terminate your plan due to non-payment after a 30 day grace period.
- ⛔ The marketplace place will terminate your plan if you don’t complete required actions on time such as submitting proof of citizenship or lawful presence.
