Whether you're applying for a new plan or managing an existing one, you can check if your doctor is in-network by: 1) calling their office and 2) verifying their tax ID number with your insurance carrier, or 3) using Stride's doctor search on the application page!
Stride lets you search for your doctor before viewing plan options. However, not every doctor chooses to appear on the list. This doesn't necessarily mean they don't accept insurance. They may have simply opted out of being listed. The best option is to call their office directly.
Option 1: Call their office
Not every doctor at a medical practice accepts all the plans offered by an insurance carrier. When you call, have the exact name of your health plan and the exact name of your doctor ready.
Example: “I’d like to check whether Dr. Jane Smith is in-network with the Blue Shield Gold 80 PPO.”
If you qualify for a government subsidy, you can also ask whether your doctor accepts marketplace plans from your preferred insurance carrier.
Example: “I’d like to check whether Dr. Jane Smith is in-network with Blue Shield of California marketplace plans.”
If the doctor's office can't confirm whether your doctor is in-network, try Option 2.
Option 2: Use your doctor's tax ID number to verify their network status with your insurance carrier
Call your doctor's office and ask for the doctor's specific tax ID number. Then call your insurance carrier's general customer service line and provide the exact name of your plan and your doctor's tax ID number. They can confirm whether your doctor is in-network.
