Auto – yep.
Medical or Financial – sometimes.
While driving for Uber, their insurance will cover costs related to:
- Bodily harm done to your passenger or anyone else injured in an accident that is your fault
- Bodily harm done to you that is not covered by the policy of a driver who caused the accident
- Damage done to your car, regardless of fault, as long as you have your own auto insurance
- Lost income due to an accident that causes a disability (if you purchase Driver Injury Protection)
While driving for Uber, this leaves drivers responsible for costs related to:
- Any bodily harm done to you in accidents that are your fault
- Any lost income in the event of a disability (if you don’t purchase Driver Injury Protection)
- Loss of the ability to provide for your dependents in the event of loss-of-life
While NOT driving for Uber this leaves drivers responsible for costs related to:
- Any bodily harm done to you in accidents that are your fault AND bodily harm done to you that is not covered by the policy of a driver who caused an accident
- Bodily harm suffered in your day-to-day life
- Any lost income in the event of a disability caused by day-to-day life
- Loss of the ability to provide for your dependents in the event of loss-of-life
