How much will I pay and when is my first payment due?
The amount you pay for health insurance depends on the plan you choose and whether you qualify for financial assistance.
When you shop through Stride, you'll see the monthly premium for each plan. If you qualify for a premium tax credit (APTC), that financial assistance is applied to your premium and reduces the amount you pay.
When will I make my first payment?
After you enroll, your insurance company may require a first payment, sometimes called a binder payment, before your coverage can begin.
Your first payment may be withdrawn anytime between the day you enroll and your plan's effective date, depending on the insurance company and your enrollment.
Your insurance company will provide instructions for making your first payment and will confirm your coverage effective date.
Important: Making your first payment does not necessarily mean your enrollment has been fully processed or that your coverage is active. Check your enrollment confirmation or contact your insurance company if you're unsure about your coverage status.
What about future payments?
Once your coverage begins, you'll generally need to pay your monthly premium directly to your insurance company to keep your coverage active.
Most insurance companies bill around the beginning of each month for that month's coverage, but payment dates and billing methods vary by carrier.
Your insurance company can help you set up automatic payments and explain your available payment options.
What if I haven't received my ID cards?
Your insurance company will send information about your coverage, including your member ID card, according to its own process and timeline.
If you haven't received your ID card or aren't sure whether your coverage is active, contact your insurance company directly.
