A 1099-K is a tax document that includes all on-trip gross earnings (so all reportable payment transactions) that were facilitated by a third party.
You will receive a 1099-K if you meet the following criteria:
- Had over $5,000 in gross payments, with no minimum transaction requirement in 2024.
- Over $2,500 in gross payments, with no minimum transaction requirements in 2025.
- The threshold is scheduled to be $600 in gross payments, with no minimum transaction requirement for 2026.
If you meet the above criteria and have completed drives or deliveries in multiple states, you will receive a separate 1099-K for each state. For example, if you completed drives in both New York and New Jersey, Uber would send you a 1099-K for fares earned in each state.
Companies are required to send out 1099-K forms by January 31st. If you are expecting one and haven't received it by mid-February, please contact the company directly to inquire about its status.
