Does Uber provide accident insurance for drivers?

Auto – yep.

Medical or Financial – sometimes.

While driving for Uber, their insurance will cover costs related to:

  • Bodily harm done to your passenger or anyone else injured in an accident that is your fault
  • Bodily harm done to you that is not covered by the policy of a driver who caused the accident
  • Damage done to your car, regardless of fault, as long as you have your own auto insurance
  • Lost income due to an accident that causes a disability (if you purchase Driver Injury Protection)

While driving for Uber, this leaves drivers responsible for costs related to:

  • Any bodily harm done to you in accidents that are your fault
  • Any lost income in the event of a disability (if you don’t purchase Driver Injury Protection)
  • Loss of the ability to provide for your dependents in the event of loss-of-life

While NOT driving for Uber this leaves drivers responsible for costs related to:

  • Any bodily harm done to you in accidents that are your fault AND bodily harm done to you that is not covered by the policy of a driver who caused an accident
  • Bodily harm suffered in your day-to-day life
  • Any lost income in the event of a disability caused by day-to-day life
  • Loss of the ability to provide for your dependents in the event of loss-of-life

Stride provides additional options for drivers that cover these liabilities by negotiating for rates on individual (personal) insurances, and our services are free!
